People in the marketing business have come up with over 15 different techniques to persuade consumers and convince them to buy their products without them even knowing. People can be manipulated and fooled by using psychological strategies. In the wii ad below, the company uses Humor and Warm & Fuzzy techniques to show them that it's fun and to persuade kids and families into buying wii. In the Pepsi ad, the techniques used are beautiful people and Testimonials. They use a beautiful, skinny actor (Sofia) to make woman want to buy it too because if she drinks it, other women should too. They also use the word "skinny" because they know the woman's obsession with being skinny is increasing. The cigarette ad uses symbols, where they put a picture of a cowboy on a horse and that is to attract men and make them feel strong and muscular.

stereotyping
To be honest, i didn't use to know what stereotype meant before last Wednesday's MCM class. I've been seeing it in my daily life, I just didn't have a definition for it. Stereotyping is the reason behind a lot of problems that our world faces nowadays. If you think about it, even wars might occur because of it. According to the U.S. census bureau the population of the World is about 6,968,780,347 people. It is not possible for that huge number of people to share the same personalities and qualities, and it's just as impossible as having all Muslims to be terrorists. i think that People who stereotype aren't necessarily bad people. A lot of them are just uneducated, ignorant, or even unaware of what's happening in the world.
